The Beginning ....

How my design came to be ...

TattyBand for GlassesÓ

I have managed to design attachments to go on an ‘Alice band’ (headband) that will hold your reading glasses off your face, this is a must if you have or will be having a nose operation .. Or when you are reading, you can use these, they leave no mark .. Before I go any further this is how it came about …

In March 2010 I was having an operation on my nose to fix and old injury, which I had been putting off for a good few years. The reason why I was having the operation now, was because at Christmas 2009 just before, I had a massive sinus infection .. Which I had been having sinus problems all along since the injury but I coped with them, but this was a bad one, which I had to take antibiotics for 2 weeks for, my GP (family doctor) made an appointment for me to see a consultant at the hospital, when he examined my nose, and heard how this came about he was horrified I had not had it fixed when I should have, but I had other injuries at that time that needed to be dealt with first, and by the time my nose came around to be done, I could not face it .. So here we are!

My lovely consultant arranged for me to have the operation beginning March .. And even though I am on a massive dose of pain killers for a broken neck .. This hurt like hell!! And I realized why I had been putting this off!!

So began my months of healing, because the septum had to be slightly brought out, and straightened, then put back .. Well I don’t think I have to explain further .. But, it was a good 4 months before it was not hurting at all ..

In this time, a friend of mine Lori, had her nose broken by a patient at the hospital she worked in .. while we was talking one day we was saying how painful it is to wear our reading glasses .. And why is there not a way that they can be held of our nose .. Lets face it we cant be the only ones with problems lol
So, that is when I said let me think about it and i will get back to you, within the hour, I had a cartoon drawing that I ‘modified’ and showed a headband with glasses attached from it .. That was hovering just in front of the eyes … (see collage pic)

.. So I posted it on my facebook for all to see … BUT then, I thought well this must be possible, funny enough I had just a few days before bought some things to make something else, so I just needed the right headband, which I found at the same shop as the other items .. Then I made one so that there was pockets on the ends of the headband, tight enough so that when the arms of the glasses were inserted it would hold the glasses to the position you need them to be in front of your eyes .. AND IT WORKED!!

I was stunned!! So I proudly took photos and posted on my face book again .. It was then that another friend said how impressed she was .. And I could probably patent it .. And that I should really get it all off my wall!!

So I quickly deleted everything hoping I had not done any damage on this, I found a company that did free ‘searches’ on what you have designed or invented etc .. they actually sent me legal documents that they had signed and myself, that they was not allowed to disclose my design to another person .. Once all that was sealed .. They did the searches on the information and photo’s I had taken, making sure I had not left anything out .. And it came back that no one had ever done this before!!

Good grief! I never thought something soo easy, had not been thought of before, especially by those who fix noses by operations for whatever reason ..

Then I set about making sure my design has copyright, which I now have .. But I have not been able to get a backer, and, as I am not very well, I practically never go out, unless its at the hospital or my doctor, so this is hard for me to get off the ground .. Also, because i cannot work, I am on limited income, I cannot afford to have the same company who did the searches for me help me any further.

I did write to a famous person who does help others in certain situations .. But I have not heard back, yet ..

So here I am …

to be continued ...
